Erika Geldsetzer was accepted at the music academy in Cologne as junior student at the age of 12 and later went on to study in Karlsruhe with Prof. Ulf Hoelscher, continuing in London at the Royal Academy of Music with Erich Gruenberg and finally in Vienna with Prof. Gerhard Schulz.

As a soloist, Erika Geldsetzer has played with various international orchestras, as violinist of the Fauré Quartett (founded in 1995) she has played in all major venues and festivals around the globe. The Fauré Quartett was musical director of the “Festspielfrühling Rügen” from 2012 until 2017 working together with renowned guests such as Lars Vogt and Martin Stadtfeld, as well as the King’s Singers and the Wiener Sängerknaben. Recordings of the quartet won two prestigious “ECHO KLASSIK” prizes.

From 2009 until 2012, she taught at the German chamber music association “Villa Musica”, where she was also a member of the Ensemble Villa Musica as well as one of the founding members of the String Quartett Villa Musica.

Erika Geldsetzer gives regular masterclasses for violin and chamber music in Germany and abroad, for example in Italy, England, USA and Norway. Since 2014, she holds a teaching position at the University of the Arts Berlin
