Prof. Kurt Saßmannshaus
Kurt Saßmannshaus is owner of the Dorothy Richard Starling chair for violin at the Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. His students are soloists, professors and have a leading orchestra positions.
To his first teachers count i.a. his father and Conrad von der Goltz in Würzburg. He studied under Igor Ozim in Cologne and Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School New York. With DeLay, he worked at the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado and used to be over 25 years member of the faculty and directorate.
In 1987, Saßmannshaus was founding the Starling Preparatory String Project in Cincinnati as training program for talented string players. He expanded the educational material of Bärenreiters Saßmannshaus, a continuation of his father’s work Egon.
His pioneering website www.violinmasterclass.com, published 2004, allow students and teachers free access to challenging violin techniques.
Saßmannshaus is a passionate chamber musician and violinist of the Saßmannshaus Trio. The Strad Magazine of London praised the performance in 2013 in Beijing as a “Stunning Performance”.
