Tomoko Nishikawa was born in Tokyo and lives in Germany, since 1983. She finished her piano studies at Hochschule für Musik in München under Prof. Ludwig Hoffman and Prof. Margarita Höhenrieder with a master class degree. She also studied chamber music, her second main subject. She took part in master classes with Rudolf Buchbinder, Arne Torger and Bengt Forsberg.
She is an awardee of numerous solo and chamber music competitions such as the first and special prize of the International Chamber Music Competition „Città di Finale Ligure“ in Italy. In 1996, Nishikawa got accepted to the support programme of the association „Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now“, where she still works as a volunteer.
Tomoko Nishikawa took part in a lot of concerts and broadcoasting recordings as a solist and chamber musician. Since 1995, she has a professorship as répétiteur at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich and also from 2002 until 2007 she has an extra professorship at the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg-Augsburg. Furthermore she is a much asked for pianist at international master classes and competition worldwide.
