Edouard Maetzener

Edouard Maetzener (*1989) started playing the violin at the age of seven and became a student of Tibor Varga in Sion at the age of 10. Further professors are Kwang-Ho Lee and from 2004 Josef Rissin, with whom he currently studies at the Hochschule für Musik, Karlsruhe.

In 2002 as well as in 2006, Edouard won 1st prize in the Swiss Music Competition for Youth. He made his debut as a soloist at the age of eleven and performed with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, led by Howard Griffith and the Camerata Zurich under the baton of Florian Ludwig. Concerts brought him to France and Lithuania. He is a scholarship recipient of the Lewinsohn Morus Foundation and was chosen as a soloist of the Foundation Burkhalter. In 2010 he was awarded a Migros Kulturprozent study award. Edouard Maetzener plays a Violin made by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume in 1864.

At the 4th International Violin Competition Henri Marteau, he was awarded 2nd prize.
