Lorenz Chen

Lorenz Chen, born at Freiburg in 1994, received his first violin lessons with Keiko Skiba at the age of six. He was teached by Prof. Jörg Hofmann from 2003 to 2008. Until 2008 he studied with Prof. Julia Fischer at Hochschule für Musik und Theater München and received his Bachelor in 2015. He currently pursues his master studies with Prof. Ana Chumachenco.

Lorenz Chen is first prizewinner at "Jugend musiziert" competition and he got a youth prize by German-French Association Freiburg and the "Europäische Hoffnung" prize by Europäische Kulturstifung Pro Europa. Since 2015 he is a scholarship holder in "Yehudi Menhuin Live Music Now".

He received the 2nd prize as well as the special prize for the youngest finalist at International Rodolfo Lipizer Violin Competition Gorizia/Italy 2016.

Lorenz Chen gave concerts as soloist with orchestras in Germany, France and Mexico and he was involved in chamber music concerts "Julia Fischer and friends".

In October 2014 and October 2016 he played recitals at National Theatre and Concert Hall Taipei/Taiwan.

Since 2013 Lorenz Chen is a member of German Young Philharmonic and played as concert master at Berliner Philharmonie, Laeiszhalle Hamburg and Alte Oper Frankfurt. Also with the Verbier Festival Orchestra he played as concert master in 2016.

Lorenzh Chen received further musical impulses with master classes at Kronberg and Aspen Music Festival and School/USA by Sylvia Rosenberg, Daniel Hope and Pavel Vernikov.

He was awarded the first prize and the audience award at 6th International Violin Competition Henri Marteau.
