Misako Akama

Misako Akama was born in 1993 in Tokyo and began playing the violin at the age of three.

From 2011 to 2013 she studied at the TOHO University of Music in Tokyo under Seiji Kageyama and Gérard Poulet, before she changed to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. Akama studies under Roland Daugereil, Christophe Poiget and Susanne Gessner.

In 2010 she has won the 2nd prize each at Yokohama International Music Competition and Japan Player Competition as well as in 2008 the 3rd prize at Tokyo Music Competition.

Misako Akama gives concerts i.a. with the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Fumiaki Miyamoto, as well as at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Hall and Komorebi Hall.

At the 5th International Violin Competition Henri Marteau (2014) Akama has won the 2nd prize and the special prize for the best Mozart interpretation.
