Albena Danailova was born in Sofia. At the age of five she began her musical education with Nely Jeleva and Dora Ivanova in her home city. From 1995, she studied violin performance at the College of Music and Theater in Rostock and in Hamburg with Petru Munteanu. She participated in numerous masterclasses got a scholarship of the Deutscher Instrumentenfonds and was an award winner at several music competitions. She graduated in 2001 and received an engagement at Bavarian State Orchestra, advancing in 2006 to the position of first concertmaster. She also served in the London Philharmonic Orchestra in the same capacity for a while.
She has established an equally successful career as soloist and chamber musician at festivals in Bulgaria, Germany, Israel, and the USA. Furthermore, she has made recordings for Radio and televisions.
In 2008, Albena Danailova became the concertmaster of Orchestra at the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and joined the Vienna Philharmonics as concertmaster in 2011. She has appeared as a Philharmonic soloist under the direction of Seiji Ozawa in 2009 and under Ádám Fischer in 2014. Concerning chamber music, she gives concerts as leader of the “Ensemble Wien” at the Musikverein.
