Welcome note
9. International Violin Competition Henri Marteau
Lichtenberg and Hof
The International Violin Competition Henri Marteau is a special cultural event!
Every three years, it brings together young talents from all over the world in Upper Franconia. This time, around 150 young violinists from 37 countries have registered to prove their skills in the course of three competition rounds. The range of pieces to be performed extends from Bach and Mozart to Henri Marteau.
The standard is impressive and the high-calibre jury certainly has no easy task ahead of them, as this is classical music at its finest. Wonderful musical moments are guaranteed for the audience!
For two weeks, the competition offers aspiring artists a platform that provides inspiration for their future musical careers. At the same time, there is ample opportunity for interaction! They engage in dialogue, exchange ideas and forge international friendships. This applies not only to the competition participants themselves.
Valuable contacts are also established with the host families. This clearly demonstrates that music brings people and cultures together – music connects! At the same time, it also highlights Bavaria's status as a vibrant cultural state! Throughout the Free State, concerts, festivals and a wide variety of formats and initiatives characterise the outstanding cultural offerings that are so typical of Bavaria. The Henri Marteau International Violin Competition makes a significant contribution to this!
Our thanks and respect go to all those involved and all our sponsors. We wish the musicians every success and the visitors unforgettable concert experiences!
